I Know, I've told you guys about this before, but I'm trying to figure out how to put pictures on? And this is one of my proudest riding moments... Getting over my fear of jumping!
Anyway I went XC (For the first time) on Angus who has also never been before and although I've never been so terrified, we did it!!! And ended the morning jumping the scary Dragon one!! (Scary for me, nothing seems to phase this superstar<3) anyway, Hope the pictures work!! Xx

Warning!! My position is so bad it makes me want to cry! But at least I stayed on! ;)

After much debate we braved the water!!! Less of a jump more of a paddle! :)

Anyway I have real worries about jumping so this was one of my proudest riding moments! So I was wondering what are yours???
 
Basically relearning how to ride properly after spending the past few years pottering on my aged mare. My little sis taught me (I'm no natural) and she's only 15 :) I've spent years and years watching her win loads and do real well. I trained with my sis every day, no proper riding lessons, no posh equipment. Being able to be ON my horse (same one as my sis competes on) and learning with the epic milty and coming third (trivial I know but I'm proud and I don't care if people think prelim is for babies) :D
 
As an older rider (and a bit of a chubster) - and who had only done one XC before, I went in for a class at Brightling. I was petrified, and if I didn't have a horse under me, my knees would've been a-knocking!
In the warm up area, one of the event organisers asked who out of me and this woman who was an eventer personified who wanted to go in first, and she turned and gave me the filthiest look and said " I don't want to get stuck behind that", so went first.

At fence No 13, as I come bombing down the hill, the jump judge blew her out as she tried to re-present as her horse had refused twice. I calmly looked at her and said "coming through" with the biggest grin on my face, and jumped easily.

Went on to come 5th! No photos, but I've laid awake hugging myself and grinning with that memory!
 
Serpentine that's epic! Mine was two years ago, we haven't got transport so it was the last time we went out and the first time for about two years, a friend offered to take me to do unaff Novice 27 at an indoor venue close by. I was so rushed I forgot loads of stuff and on the way to ask if I could compete without my stock (!) I passed the warm up and honestly wanted to cry. I have an ancient sec D (21 at the time) and all I could see were TB and Warmblood types practicing medium trots and looking wonderful. I thought well Im here so may as well have a ride round and go home. Readers, we won! 68% as well. The reason I was so proud is in our early days we were always stone last because he was a nightmare and I wasn't expecting much better that day :-)
 
Wow! Some fantastic moments?!? Serpentine that's Amazing, I know how you feel, not quite in the same respect! and Brummyrat that must of been an amazing feeling! Sitting here smiling my head off at these lovely memories!! X
 
Well done you. Handsome chap Angus :). Mine would probably competing at club champs this year and doing a complete jumping course of 8 jumps without messing them up (we went clear) and also my first ever dressage test. And of course my first ever rosettes :D I'd broken my collar bone on day 1 last year so this was quite a big thing for me but I'd missed out day 1 this year so everything was a surprise on the day ; including the dressage test :O
 
Well done everyone, loved those xc jumps! Mine was a few years ago before I thought I'd have my own equine. I rode at a west London stables and I was part of a (rookie) team sent to compete in the London liaison riding clubs prix caprilli at the Royal Mews (how posh?!! ;P ) We won and I got individual 3rd, we were chuffed. Now I'm looking forward to watching my daughter compete our boy at a local show if we can sort some transport...will be proud if she gets him on/off lorry and into the ring!

I was at the PC champs this year to, just spectating tho. There was some tough competition! Hoping to compete myself next year, maybe not on Angus tho ! X

This ^^^ competing my rescued, frightened, beautiful boy at the BAPSH championships after 3 years of rehab and building his shattered confidence. Proud? An Olympic medal wouldn't have made me as proud as I am of him.

A couple of years ago, I helped my friend out with her ponies, and I went hacking with her, and was a groom at all the shows she went to! It really was great- more than I could hope. She told me to always wear my jodhpurs and bring riding gear when I went, in case I got a ride.
So on one of the last shows I went to with her, which was a big one, I got a ride! I was in a black t shirt and jods, not exactly show attire, but I went into a deserted warm up arena and much to my delight, was gazed at in awe by a few people walking past! Luckily for me, the horse went straight into an outline and was impeccably behaved, doing circles and responding to my every command! It was amazing, and I think one of them said "how lucky are they to have a horse like that!"
I wish that horse was mine.

Lol. I also fell this year when the horse I was doing X country on put in an emergency stop at the first jump. Same horse went clear on the SJ so I wasn't expecting it! But I didn't break this year and we then went and did the course twice for good measure. Must have given my poor RI a heart attack.

This is one of my proudest moments, riding my mare Chloe at a big local show (sadly no longer going), since I was a child it was my dream to compete there and in 2010 I was on the other side of the fence actually riding in a class rather than spectating and to top it all off we came 5th in our first ever ridden showing class!

My other proudest moment is getting a double clear with Chloe in our first ever competitive show jumping class earlier this year!

Fab achievement OP and others!! i think any one who can overcome confidence and jumping issues deserves a pat on the back!

My Proudest moment was last week and a managing to navigate my home produced 5yo round both of our first ODE's at Tweseldown - she was absolutely fantastic but still a little green but couldnt have tried any harder! most people wouldn't be proud of a 150+ score but she showed experience way beyond her years to get us both round safely :)

Aww! Lovely stories! Mine has to be the first time my ex track pacer understood walk-canter. It took him 6 months to learn cantering was okay, and about 5 mins to figure outside leg back = canter.

More recently we started jumping. This was just as big, given the fact he didn't learn until the age of 16 plus my fear of jumping! He absolutely LOVES it, and is so bold! My fears are gone, and although it's only been a few weeks he has never refused a fence yet.

My proudest moment was our second time at a show and got 2nd in best combination.
 
Some of these are fantastic
Mine was at David Broomes EC, we were in the biggest class of the day, me and my Irish sports cob ;) with his dinner plate feet. Everyone in the warm up was looking at us like we were dirt and there was 70 people in the class - dad kept telling me not to be put off by them, we ended up winning by 5 seconds - have never been prouder of me and that horse sticking it to them :)
 
Great stuff Marchogaeth - I think your jumping looked great! Also serpentine - loved that! You are all fabulous.

I dont think of my riding moments as proud but more fulfilling - the latest was probably managing to go hunting (with the bloodhounds) for the first ever time just before my 50th birthday. Having wanted to do it since, just before my 8th birthday. Next milestone is to do the same thing but also drink the stirrup cups!! :)
 
mine would be the time i first got back on my little mare after our accident and having someone else ride her for a year, and she didnt bat an eyelid, and everything to today, where she won her 2nd ever dressage test at her 3rd ridden show on 73%, along with cantering her in the open and jumping her for the first time, after having multiple people say that she will never do what we want her to... http://www.rpeevents.co.uk/gals/020913/c1/content/020913_DR_045_large.html

What fab stories. I love your cob OP. I had a realy good moment yesterday. I have a 5 yo old cob who is hyper mobile, weak and was struggling to balance even in walk, so for the past 6 months or so we have been doing pole work and exercises. As a rusty returning rider who has only bimbled around on an aged pony for the last few years I have doubted my ability to help him. Yesterday we were schooling in the field and after about 20 min I realized he was walking rhythmically, he had not lost his balance once, even on turns and his transitions to halt and trot were light and obedient - happy much!
 
Thanks so much for sharing, you look fab. I never thought I'd ever be able to do XC but your photos have made me think perhaps it is possible.

My proudest moment so far was this Thursday. On my old pony I'd never been able to canter more than a length of the manège. The transitions were ok I just couldn't keep her going. I cantered on our new girl on Thursday and I did 2 turns round no problems. She could have done more but I was shaking and grinning too much I had to stop.

Thank you! This mean a lot, I never I'm a million years thought I'd ever be able to do it! As soon as i got out on the course I was just sat there shaking and Angus was just stood there like "what's that loon doing now?"
Anyway, the feeling after we'd done it! Well, I was so proud of him and myself, might even do it again at some point, maybe take my boy this time<3
So please if you get the opportunity, give it ago! I was well worth it :)

P.s that must of been fantastic! You must be do pleased and proud if yourself!!! Well done :D x
