Thoughts on PS of Sweden bridles..

- Are they worth the price tag?
- Did your horse have any issues that made you buy a PSOS bridle and did it fix the issue?
- Do you think your horse is more comfortable in one?
- What is the fit and leather like?

Thanks!

- Are they worth the price tag? - In comparison to the poor quality alternatives (i.e. Micklem) I'd say so, they have some nice design features too (like rubberised lining to the keepers so they stay in place)
- Did your horse have any issues that made you buy a PSOS bridle and did it fix the issue? - Yes and undecided, he definitely likes the headpiece but isn't a fan of the high jump noseband. I'd like to try the Pioneer & Nirak. If he didn't love those and I was to go back to a more traditional style noseband I'd go with a cheaper option.
- Do you think your horse is more comfortable in one? With the headpiece, yes, he's much happier. Noseband is to be confirmed!
- What is the fit and leather like? - I'd say small to size, we're usually between a cob/full and the full fits him nicely. Leather is nice, but perhaps not £200-300 nice. I prefer the leather of my 10 year old Stubben if I'm honest.

Are they worth the price tag? It's hard to say. You're paying for the design but I think the leather is horrible for the price, I have the deluxe competition version of the micklem in English leather which I think is much nicer yet cheaper. I've only used the high jump and one of their doubles, the double they must have sent the wrong size cheek pieces or the sizing varies massively across the range as it isn't close to fitting, it's far too small despite the high jump being the same size. The high jump a couple of horses have gone better in it but one is much worse, none of them really have any problems as such to warrant needing a special bridle. The one that didn't like it is back in a bog standard drop with a normal headpiece and yet a lot happier.

I have the nirak bridle -
Are they worth the price tag? If you have the money to spend! I think so with mine.
- Did your horse have any issues that made you buy a PSOS bridle and did it fix the issue? I have a very sensitive pony who has very mild headshaking, resulting in him constantly itching his face while being ridden during summer months, this has been resolved with this bridle and he doesn’t even rub his head on me when I take it off. (Should say though he doesn’t do it also when I use a cheap bridle with no noseband so would be a much cheaper solution if this is what you wanted to resolve and didn’t compete!)
- Do you think your horse is more comfortable in one? See above - I certainly think so
- What is the fit and leather like - I think they run pretty small and the leather isn’t as nice as some similarly priced products, that been said it is an attractive bridle.

I also have the Nirak
Are they worth the price tag? I'm not sure...put it one way, I've just bought a lovely Sabre for my new boy for less than the Nirak and it is a much nicer quality bridle
I got it for my mare who didn't like cavesson nosebands. As I competed her I wanted a noseband. She had a Micklem, which she went nicely in, and I liked the look and design of the Nirak. It did the same as the Micklem, and on reflection, I should just have got a brown Micklem. Interestingly, my new boy didn't like the Nirak - I think he's never had a strap below the bit - he's much happier in a cavesson.
My mare was more comfortable (but same as Micklem) my gelding not
I found the fit a bit odd - browbands too small, headpiece just right, but whole design seemed to be for a much longer head than either of mine have. I also found that the leather, while nice and soft, has stretched a wee bit.
I'm selling a brown size 2 if you are interested... :-)
