So Scout had Bone scan Tuesday which was inconclusive, but to cut a long story short they suspect Bilateral Proximal Suspensory Desmitis or PSD. Due to complications we are just waiting to find out what is covered on the insurance vets are 100% sure does not relate to any exclusions but you never know. The vets have said they want to scan hinds and xray, and also check out fronts as he had some uptake in the front hooves near nav bone on scan but they think this is secondary to the PSD. When they have carried out these other tests they say will decide on the Op or box rest first.

Thing is we bought him last August to event PC/BE but he had an aversion to XC but they managed to get him to complete a course, but things got worse with him playing up in the jump field or in the arena where he had always been fine, we felt something was wrong but investigations said all was fine but we didn't believe it as he would go from being so sweet to violent. It now explains all, but I think he has had this for a good while if not even before with previous owners so I don't think Shock Wave therapy will work as looking at research looks like that needs to be started soon into the process.

Anyhow thanks for getting this far (mid morning snack for all) and if you have experiences good or bad would really love to hear them. He is insured for Loss of Use but she loves him loads and even if he is unlikely to event again would hope to bring him back into some form of work.

Thanks x

There is loads of info on this forum on this subject and many positive outcomes so take heart!!
In brief from my experience (horse also had Bilateral PSD) had the op and it was def. worth it. I too had deliberated as to whether it was all worth it and what I would get at the end of it. Neither of us are world beaters but my horse had only done an Intro before being diagnosed and now successfully completed a few PN's so they def. can return to what they were doing before.
Pick your vets brains - I am sure I was a pain in the bum at the time I had so many queries and then took a little time out to reach my decision but we got there in the end and had no regrets..and my insurers paid out totally inc. transport to and from vets for all the scans etc.
Good luck!!

Hi. My last mare had it, chronic. PM me if you want, though we didn't have a happy outcome, so will understand if you don't.

If you do a search on here, you'll find a lot of useful and interesting info.

Out of interest, which vet is doing the investigation? I would strongly recommend Sue Dyson at the Animal Health Trust.

I have one who had it real bad, had a neurectomy and fasciotomy and he is now back jumping again, he is going for his final check before loss of use is claimed or not in 2 weeks.

He feels much better for it though and is much happier
