I would like to hear of your experiences relating to PSD/post suspensory operation and pain in the sacroiliac area. Before going ahead with hind limb suspensory surgery my vet informed me that in some cases horses can have pain in the sacroiliac area when they come back into work, which he said is usually overcome with a single injection. Of course I will talk with my vet but I wanted to hear of your experiences.

Did your horse suffer sacroiliac pain following the suspensory neurectomy?
How many weeks following surgery did this present itself/ what stage were you at with work (inhand/ridden) etc?
Did you notice a raised bump in this area/other symptoms?
What route did you go down to overcome the sacroiliac pain, i.e. physio, injection etc?

Any other things you would like to share...

Thanks :)

I'm currently waiting for the insurance co before my horse can have the op he is already showings signs of sacroiliac pain. Such as leaping in the air to buck but not doing so, kicking out while grooming the area etc although His problems are slightly more complicated than just a suspensory ligaments injury. He also managed to get his hind leg stuck through a grill in this stable which contributed to the problems. He's had physio treatments but untill he has the op he will still compensate and it will still be a problem. Hope this is of some help.
