What a wet and miserable (but successful) day!

Took Fig to Beaver Hall yesterday... Had very poor preparation in all honesty; we've had a week of mostly walk work as he came down with lymphangitis. I thought he might be super silly sharp as a result, but he actually felt a little tired.

Got absolutely soaked half way through my warm up...

In for a whizz round AM92 - Fig was really sweet but we had 2 epic screw ups. First change 'lovely change and lovely three 1 times after' and another just ran, went flat, then had a snakehead for two deserved 3's and this was reflected in our submission mark. I rode like a bit of an unproactive lemon for a very fair 65.67% H/C.

And then... We threw ourselves in at the deep end with our first PSG!!!

Aside from needing a little more collection into the piri's he was brilliant!!! A couple of wobbles here and there but after a week of doing nothing I couldn't expect him to be totally on the ball. I did two lines of 3's as can't count to 4 apparently (he missed one slightly which threw me off course). But I am over the moon with a fabulous score of 64.21%!!!!!

So. Am I allowed to say I officially have a small tour horse?!

The judge and writer did not believe he was an exracer at all :)

I would have been happy just to get round. Over 60 would have been amazing. But to get that score... It's just wicked. Half way to an Area Festival on the first go!

I feel overwhelmingly humbled to have such an awesome little horse, it will take a lot to bring me down off this high <3

Thats great . Well done to you both . May I ,as the owner of a "special needs" Irish daft who considers a walk and trot test Haute ecole be the first to congratulate you. I absolutely KNOW that you both must have worked your socks off . Well done!Edited to say that I am now not the first to congratulate you as nicnac has snuck in while I was one finger typing

I love this :D Well done, well done! I remember your very first thread about him and love that I've been able to follow (via the internet) your whole journey!

Thank you everyone - feel like such a proud mother hen!

I too remember his first post! Has come such a long way from that scrawny little chap!

You'll be fine you can do the changes well easy :)

I lost marks on stuff we usually do well (like the walk piri's) but hey ho. Know what to expect next time! I still can't quite believe we've done it!

Our piris need a bit more work although he did some really good ones in lesson last week. Changes kind of happen or don't happen but could definitely do with being straighter. I have pencilled one in for September - eek!

That is one bit that Fig finds easy!! Walk on the other hand....!!

To make the changes straighter try doing them through a tunnel of poles in an X across the school? I do this with Fig, saw it on Anna Ross page (I take no credit!). I mostly do mine on 3/4 line as can control tempo better too!

Congratulations! I only hope my tb and I can be half as good as you and fig one day.

Look at that neck muscle too!

It's more the neck bend rather than his body swinging. He keeps his body very straight but he can't seem to get his head around changing unless I really make quite an exaggerated change of bend so just gradually working on that. Walk piris for us either get 8's or he sticks and gets 4's. Canter piris he often just loses the canter and walks a step so I think still needs a bit more time to just keep building the strength. Having lots of fun though!

I'm super pleased with his condition currently :)

Ahhh I get it star! Thankfully Fig works best from a super straight neck, though my naughty habit is too much bend to the left. Working on it!!! Always a work in progress :)
