I know there are a few PSSM experts on here and am wondering if you can make sense of this. My vet is fab and he suggested testing but happily admits he doesn’t know tons about it yet. Is this PSSM 2 or 3? I need to know what to research and where to go next. His suggestion to the high protein diet and some vitamin E from a bit of research he’s done briefly

Just be aware that the test isnt accurate sadly. 20% of horses can carry the gene but have no symptoms.

This is a good video that explains the basics. Theres others on that channel that cover other aspects.

yes it’s a funny one isn’t it. We are experiencing a whole host of symptoms and when I look back on his 2.5 years with me, have been since day one! Never anything that made me really think ‘hang on a minute we need to look into this’ until we started having bigger issues late last year. I don’t think this is the entire reason for the issues we’ve had as we’ve found other minor things and treated along the way, but it does explain a huge amount about some of the problems we’ve had/are having!
