Just picked up a schedule for a Christmas SJ near me, and though I'd check how this works....only ever seen it on TV! Is it that there are about 3/4 fences, with the last one being a wall, which starts at a certain height (80cm in this case).

Is it as follows: Everyone entered goes in and jumps, then the wall gets put up, and anyone who went clear the first time jumps again? And then again, wall up, anyone clear goes again, and so on until there is a winner?
What happens if you knock one of the other fences? And does this take hours and hours to complete a class?!

Anyone done a class like this? Any ideas how much it will go up each time? And what sort of height you'd need to be juping to get placed? THe accumulator the same day is fences 75 - 90cm, with the joker at approx 1m, if that is any hint as to the standard of show....

Oh where is this??

Usually goes up by a poles width each time so around 5cm

Yes you do get eliminated if you knock down the warm up fence (Ben Maher's horse was a classic at taking out the triple bar rather than the giant wall!)

Patchetts Christmas SJ - sounds like a fab day out, accumulator, speed pairs class and puissance!! I want to do them all.....!

We did one at 'royal tournament , they limited entries ,they had a warm up straightforward fence ,a spread and the wall.
It was just nice to do a big wall but we only lasted 3 rounds. It started at 4 foot

Fab! if we get our new horse, I will bring my daughter, she'd love to do puissance!

I wonder how long it would take us to get to Patchetts, I know someone who trains there. When is it?

Also, is anyone going to Addington this sunday?

Patchetts used to hold a Puissance back in the 80s

one year a WP beat the resident sjer on her section D and won. dont remember him particularly gracious about it but it got up to 5ft +.

I used to stable there and I did it. I pulled out after 1.30 as my baby was 5 at the time. That year Steward's son won it at 1.45.

Their Christmas show is great fun.
