Well i was very lucky to get a chance ride for pulborough intro after realising i would otherwise have had to have WD with a lame Hattie
So after hurriedly changing the name of the horses over and getting my accreditation done on wednesday, i only had the saturday to have a real play and feel for him
Hired out some sjs on saturday morning and the owner very kindly brought him up for me to have a play on, was going alright, but i really didnt have a handle on him, and felt very underprepared going into sunday, but i had no choice a part from biting the bullet and getting on with the job.
Warmed up ok, and he did an adequate dressage, i really didnt do him justice as i know he can easily get high 20 dressage tests, but only having had one practise on him a 37.5 dressage didnt seem too bad and certainly wasnt terrible
Onto the sjing and i was, just a...tad... nervous
the course wasnt big really and i have ridden similar tons of times before and so had he, but nevertheless i was (wetting myself!!!)
jumped really nicely and calmly in the practise ring having tried a new technique to see if he prefered it. and i was straight into the ring. He flew, was totally fantastic, answered everything question that was asked and picked his feet up - which has to be said, is something he sometimes prefers to forget about!!! and to my shock we came home with a clear
it was a brilliant feeling!!!
Onto the xc and all my nerves had disappeared, i knew it was his favourite bit, (i had been told on good authority!!) just before i went, my mum rushed up to me to tell me loads of people were getting time pen. so to poss. get a shift on out there if i felt i wanted to
well she neednt have said anything, he rocketed both of us out of the start box and i promise you we didnt go down a gear for the whole course, i did not have a single set of brakes for the whole 4mins 20 something seconds, even through the water or over the combinations, i will freely say he DID take me!!!!!!!!!!
but it was fantastic and a great finish. a double clear was all i could have asked for from a "strange" horse who KNEW he had a "strange" jockey on board
Took him back to his home, and we drove quickly back just to see if i might have scraped a 9th or 10th placing, mum made sure i didnt take my jacket or hat up with me just incase i didnt get a place and it would look presumptious!!!!!!!
she shouldnt have said anything, she was nearly blown over backwards to see we had come 6th !!!
so i made her go and get my jacket and hat for me as "pay back" if you like
and my legs and bum were like jelly (i havent ridden for 3 weeks cos both of my naglets have been off!!) totally NOT riding fit!!!!!
So a good final event of the season
sorry you had to read such ramble, but am very pleased and havent "proof read any of it!!!"
