Did our first ever BE event yesterday - the training class at Pulborough. Had such a fantastic day! Started off with a coursewalk with Jonathan Chapman - he was really friendly and helpful and also stayed in the warmup for the show jumping and XC to help people warm up etc! We did a good dressage test which I was really pleased with as it was close to XC and quite buzzy - again steward really helpful and friendly! Again another coursewalk before the SJ - which we had just one down - for him it is a miracle as that is his weakest phase!
On to XC - the course was lovely - exactly the right balance of nice welcoming fences combined with some slightly more technical ones - my horse was fantastic - he came out of the start box on form and was brilliant - gave me such a good ride!
We had quite a few time penalties as trotted between a few bits and went quite slowly through the water - things I need to work on! But ended up 7th!!!!! Was absolutely over the moon!!
So, for anyone that was wondering how the Training Classes would go - it was brilliant. Such nice people, everyone was friendly and helpful!! I will definitely be contacting BE to tell them what a good idea they are!!!
Hope anyone else who was there had a great day too!!

Well done - you looked delighted on your way back from XC

Not such a good day for me but I'm very pleased with my horsey too

The dressage was running 20 mins early so I didn't get a warm up and she had a bit of a 'I'm a TB mare and I am NOT cantering a circle' in her test but otherwise, I think she was VERY harshly marked - she got a 47 and she is normally consistent with 35-30's

Then 2 down SJ and we retired XC as we were last to go and she wasn't studded and we had a bit of a joint meeting with the ground - so my fault really. Got a great pic though!
Well done once again

Well done guys!

LadyTia - for future reference, they can 'ask' you to go before your time in the dressage, but not 'make' you - you are well within your rights to say no, and I have done on more than one occasion! Just be polite and say you need more time to warm up and will let them know if you are ready before your alloted time.

Thankyou - she did do a lovely test bar her silly moment so it was more the judging then the warm up anyway. Thankyou though

Thats a shame about your XC - but well done anyway!! As long as you had a nice day! I was really disappointed with the photography actually - the pic they got of me was a bit too late so I didn't get it!!! Was really hoping for a nice pic to remember the day by aswell!! I really hope they do some more - would like to do a couple more at Training Level and then go to Intro - shame its the end of the season now as I can't wait to get out there again!! Hope Chilham runs now!!!

Welldone, fab result for your first event

Really wish I could have gone as its my local event, but I'm back at uni now!

I had a few time penalties too! was gutted as did an ok dressage and went double clear was sooooo pleased with my old boy. Probably saw you there just didnt realise!

Hi, I also did the training class at Pulborough and had a great time. I did the first one at Mattingley in July and decided to give the Pulborough one a go as well.

We did a OK dressage even though I went wrong once we were about 11th with 42. Had a clear in the show jumping which I was pleased about as I didn't get chance to walk the course first.

The XC was brillant and my little Welsh Cob just flew out of the start box and gave me the best ride ever. We had a slight hesitation at the ditch and was given 20 pen so missed our chance of getting a 4th! but with only a couple of time penalties I was over the moon. He is really getting the hang of this eventing and if I am brave enough I might have a go at Intro next year.

Finished the season on a high
