Hi all,
I have had a catalogue of various, unconnected problems with 11.2 darty this last 6 months and now have another...
I have been bringing him back into work slowly the last 5 weeks from a pulled hamstring on his right hind. He has been doing great but on Saturday I was hacking out. I had had one little trot (he's been back into trot work for 2.5 weeks) and no problems. I went down a fairly mild hill into another field and he shied jumping side ways. On landing all hell broke loose and he bucked and reared, and bronced and bucked until I fell off. Still holding on he dragged me at gallop up a hill and got faster and faster the more I hung on. Then I gave up when he kicked me for the third time (thankfully, now loose next to a busy road but still in field his belly got the better of him and I caught him with little fuss). He seemed find and I got back on and walked 5 minutes back to the farm (I gave up on the hack thinking I'll cut my losses)
Anyway yesterday he was lame on right hind again. vet out on Wednesday but in the meantime can anyone help me with the following:
1. Could he, by jumping and shying, have re-pulled that muscle which was the cause of a violant outburst which is very out of character;
2. Should I leave it for a set time before starting to massage it?
3. How long to leave it before I start again - build up of walk only exercise?
4. Any other advice, supplements etc.
Many thanks
Nicola
