Well about 5 weeks ago we found my horse had a pulled hamstring (slight tear). I was just wondering if anyone had any information on this kind of injury. He had acupunture and also we have been ultra sounding every day...does magnatherapy help the healing of muscle injurys. How does magnatherapy work?
Sorry for the long post. Would greatly apreciate any comments on the issue.

My mare pulled her hamstring 2 years ago. There was a lot of muscle wastage pretty quickly. She was treated with massage. She now still has a noticable dent and there is a hard knot in the muscle. She is sound but it makes her walk with a goose step, flicking the toe up before putting it down, which does look very odd. It doesn't seem to bother her but she has been retired to gentle hacking now. she is 21.
As you are having more aggressive treatment, hopefully yours will make a full recovery.

My friend's horse pulled her hamstring the other day trying to get up in the field. She's already on box rest for two fused hocks, a curb on one knee and a damaged check ligament in the other foreleg. Our vet just advised her to keep it moving, she's been going in a pen a few hours a day but now she's out for longer as she gets more sound as it's moved. She didn't seem too terribly worried (but then that may be as the horse has more worrying injuries already!)
