Pulled hamstrings - how long to recover?

Jed is very tender around both hamstrings and i believe he has pulled them.

Does anyone know how long it will take for him to recover and what i should do to help him get over it?

I have a mare that tore one hamstring. She was on massaging and stretching to keep it flexible then she got laminitis and was on box rest. Without the continuious movement it knotted up and she now has a solid hamstring/big crease down her backside. It has altered her walk and she looks very odd as she flicks the foot up and places it down heel first. It doesn't seem to affect trot and canter but I class her as mechanically lame in walk.
My advice would be to keep them gently moving and massage them. Not too sure how long until they are better, it would depend on how sore they are I suppose!
