We were having a lovely ride out this morning when D swerved in canter to avoid a huge clod of earth that had been kicked up from the horse in front and was flying at her head. SHe did a few odd strides when she swerved but then she found her pace again and she seemed fine.

Unfortunately as we pulled back up the drive way onto the yard she became lame, clearly the adrenalin of being out on a hack had stopped her feeling the pain.

When we had a look she was clearly lame in her off hind with some swelling but no heat.

I rang the vet he said to cold hose, keep her in tonight and he'll come out in the morning if she's no better.

I'd really appreciate some healing vibes for D, I know its minor compared to what baublesbecki is going through but I feel so bad for her and so guilty for carrying on enjoying the hack when she was injured. She is such an honest little horse and deserves a bit lof luck for a change

Healing vibes for daisy! Don't feel bad, just found out that i've been riding my horse with a bruised spine/back for 3 months so you can be relieved you're not as bad an owner as me!!

Lots of vibes for you, my horse did something similar and injured a hock when he stumbled near the end of a dressage test! I didn't realise how badly he was injured as he carried on and finished (albeit less balanced). Took weeks before he was back to normal (then 2 days later he strained his back and hasn't been right for a couple of months .... we're not having a good year).
Try some arnica cream on the hock, it can help.
