Any idea how long the above would take to heal?

My staffie has ED in both front legs

he's now done something to back left leg, he was quite lame on it so my fear was HD. Took him to vets and she said it's definately not the joints. She reckons could be a pulled muscle, ligament or tendon.

This was a couple of weeks ago now & I don't think he's any better. She didn't want to put him on any pain relief as he would tear around more thinking it doesn't hurt. Rest it what the vet recommended, easier said than done as I have another dog, one year old and she doesn't give him any peace.

I'm not sure whether I should take him back & maybe get some xrays or something done or give it more time. I've felt/prodded/poked around the whole leg from hip to toe & he doesn't flinch. Just wondered how long this type of injury would take to heal.

I do try & stop the 2 of them going too mad but it's not easy. Any advice would be great.

I think you may have to be quite tough on the rest regime. I know what its like with 2 dogs, even if they are not running round together ours tend to play fight and roll about. If yours are doing this it won't help your lads leg. I would be inclined to keep him on the lead when they are out together, and if they do play about inside possibly use a cage. I know it seems mean but if he was a horse a tendon injury would probably mean box rest, you have to think the same way short term for your dog. Perhaps phone the vet for a chat if you are really concerned, but if he lets you pull the leg about I wouldn't think any bones are involved. Fingers crossed he improves soon.

Thanks MM.

I think you're probably right, I need to be a bit stricter with the playing. I do have a crate but they don't seem to play much indoors. I tend to just leave the back door open all day & they are in & out at their leisure and Xara is quite rough with him. I'll try harder
