Are there any reasons why a horse with no previous history of regularly pulling shoes would start to lose them?

I've lost three shoes since my horse (which I've had on loan for about 3 months) was shod a week last Tuesday, and before I give the farrier a rocket I am wondering if there could be a problem that I need to look at eg. bad back. Incidentally, he did send two of his lads last week rather than the bossman himself, and I wonder if that is the problem?

TIA

Fair point TheFarrier! I am a bit fed up because the owner of the horse has insisted that I use this particular farrier, and he didn't want to take on my other two horses (either because he doesn't have the time or he doesn't want to put my existing farrier's nose out of joint, both fair enough) so I have two farriers coming out now plus he charges £20 more than my normal one. However, I know it's not necessarily the farrier's fault, hence why I asked the question. I will discuss the matter with him. Thanks for the link.
