My new mare who we brought from field therefore was barefoot had the farrier to put shows on her this morning.. her feet typical tb are extremely flat so the farrier suggested just 2 light aluminium shoes on her front for now.. well turned out for 15 minutes, go back to top up field water.. she is barefoot again!! So farriers back in the morning to put them back on!!

Pointless post really but couldnt believe it!!

If her hooves are flat, then her breakover might be wrong and therefore she will pull shoes far more than if her breakover was correct.

You need to get her to grow better hooves. What does she eat and can you post some photos of her hooves?

Does she need shoes on? My tb is barefoot and booted in cavallos for hacking for those exact reasons (throwing shoes, typical tb feet). No thrown shoes, no damage to hooves. It's a lot easier and more effective to grow a better hoof without shoes. Just make sure diet is right, restricted grazing if needed, lo sugar/starch and balanced minerals (pro hoof or pro balance are great from progressive earth). Unbooted roadwork also helps build the frog up and thicken the sole over time. Honestly, this might not be the answer your looking for but check out my thread 'typical tb feet' about my mare throwing shoes last year and its took me 9 months to go BF but I've never looked back! I 100% believe that if your horse has poor feet, it is better to be out of shoes than in them and there is no solving throwing shoes without having healthy hooves. A LOT cheaper too ;)
