My mare was kicked in the field 3 weeks ago and had a puncture wound on her right fore just below her knee. The wound was quite deep but now is just a small scab, I started turning her out again during the day about a week ago and although lame for the first few days it is now less obvious. The only thing is that her leg is still swollen, more so above the wound, then right down her leg, it isn't really warm and she dosent seem to be experiencing pain from it. The swelling seems to be benfitting from her being turned out again, but I would of thought it would be a lot better now.

Is it another call to the vet?

I'd call the vet. I probably would have called them when it first happened, but it's never too late. You may just need some antibiotics for her to stop infection.

I got the vet out when it happened but just wondered if another visit from them would be neccesary. Somebody on my yard also mentioned a chipped bone :S

Thanks everyone.
