This young lad was found yesterday morning and no owner has been found yet, he should be on doglost shortly and is off to the vet to see if he has a chip but there are no reports of him missing with the dog warden or police yet... he's being looked after by a friend of mine and is a little star by all accounts, if anyone knows him it would be lovely to reunite him with his owner (although said friend adores him and is happy to keep him if noone comes forward!)

Oh, and any ideas on breeding, looks like a kelpie to me, although those ears have a bit of the old gsd about them!!

I work in Livingston so will pop this on the intranet at work just in case anyone recognises him :)

Poor wee soul though!

Can you be more specific as to where he was found?

Oh, I hope his owner is found and it doesn't turn out to be a case of him being dumped but sadly that is quite likely. I was only watching Daybreak this morning and they were highlighting the fact that so many dogs and cats have been dumped over the xmas period. They had a 3 mth old GSD puppy who had been found on xmas day dumped in a box! Xmas day!!! What, they'd got sick of her already?!

It's just heartbreaking really

I wonder if he was pinched?:(

I bet he gets great Sky reception on those lugs:p and at least he has landed on his paws one way or another:)

I don't recognise him but I will ask around my friends and pop the pic on Facebook to see if anyone knows him! Have you tried calling all of the local vets? Dog training groups? Dog walkers for someone who might know him?

I'm afraid he is going to need rehoming, friends OH is allergic. He's been to the vet and isn't chipped, they think he is Ridgeback cross?!! Don't see it myself but they are the experts!! So, anyone want him?!

I will let the folks at work know and get back to you :)

Can you give me more information about him - estimated age, temperament,
and so on - Im bound to get hit with all these questions. Ridgeback x is bit of a stretch is it not? He looks nothing like a ridgeback! I thought he looked like a Kelpie x with a bit of doberman in there somewhere.

Anyway, any information you can give me to pass along to potential adopters would be ideal :)

He's 5-6 months, fab temperament, toilet trained, sits, has run off the lead with good recall, looks like a kelpie to me, vet thought Thai Ridgeback (never seen or head of them, not convinced!), will PM you my facebook details if anyone wants to send me a message xx

Looks kelpie type to me, never heard of a Thai Ridgeback, vet wasn't winding you up was he.:p Don't think vets are particularly experts on breeds, they don't always see a huge amount of different breeds. Hope the little lad finds a good home.

Ets. Okay should have googled first, they do exist, but still think he looks more like a kelpie cross, or just a general heinz. Sweet pup though, did you get his details on DogLost?

He looks remarkably like our dog, except that ours is quite noticeably older and has slightly smaller, floppier ears. The colour & markings are almost exactly the same though. We always assumed ours was a cross of all sorts of breeds, but we don't know for sure as she is a rescue and we have no history on her.

Good luck with finding a good home for him! His ears really are quite remarkable. :)

He is funny looking isn't he - hmm, wonder if it'll be easier to say what cross he's likely to be once he's fully grown. He looks almost doberman crossed with something based on his colouring and face shape but those ears are something else! lol. Also he has those wrinkles on his head which would indicate another breed type. Hmmm, maybe GSD x Doberman x Sharpei or Staff!!! Lol

He is so cute. Hope he finds a great home.

I've come across two Thai Ridgebacks in NYC. They have the forehead wrinkles, a greyish coat colour and pointy ears, so it's possible, but they're a rare, expensive breed, so probably unlikely.

To me, he looks like there's some Manchester Terrier in there.
