New pup is 10 weeks old today, he has had diarrhea for about a day and a half, thought all was ok today as he did a solid one this morning. He is absolutely normal in himself, drinking, hungry, eating and sleeping normally. Currently terrorising his new swan toy in terror mode!! Is this pretty normal? We have only had in since Friday, he has had his first jab and been wormed. Do we not need to worry unless he is off colour? Not had a pup for 10 years!

Thanks

My pup had a bad tummy a few weeks after I got her so I guess that would be similar to your situation. I decided that the food I was giving her (what the breeder had fed) was the most likely cause & changed to something else... problem solved, however it may be worth a phone call to the vet to check pup out

Change of food/treats, worming and jabs can all cause change in faeces, by rule of thumb if he is bright and drinking then dont panick unless faeces is prolonged after starvation and bland food, you really should starve for 12 hours (as just a baby) then feed a bland binding food like boiled rice and chicken until he is firm then re introduce his normal food.
Is he dry/firm now?

He has had 1st jab. Next one in 6 days. So tonight just boiled rice and a few little dry biscuits? He has had runs for 1.5 days, had one solid poop today the rest runny and biley...

Rice is good, biscuits fine, but add in protein as suggested eg chicken, white fish thoroughly checked for bones, obviously. He needs protein to keep up his strength and for growth.

Agree with the starve for 12hrs and then give rice and boiled chicken/tuna in water not brine or even just a bit of scrambled egg with the rice will do - it helps to bind them and rest their gut, I always add dessert spoon of live youghurt too to help with their gut bacteria for at least a week after the runs. As said above if he is happy and doing everything normally then don't panic - they often get it at times especially if you have one like mine who eats anything gross that he comes across!! - it's when they go quiet and are not themselves that you need to get to a vet quickly.
