Pup injections - timescale?

Hi all, my bitch had pups 4 weeks ago and I've read conflicting things online regarding when they require their first injection so I phoned my vet and they said no, we don't see pups for injections until they are 8 weeks and in their new homes. This sounds a bit strange to me as I always believed they had their first by the time they went at 8 weeks.
I'm about to post an advert so I just wanted to see what everyone thought.
Also, what age are microchips generally done at?
 
1st vaccination depends on the vaccine used but most can be started from 6 weeks, usually 2nd vacc given 4weeks later. the later the 1st vacc is given the older the pup is when it can go outside and start proper socialisation. Ideally pups should be out and about as early as possible, when fully vaccinated, as this is a vitlal learning period. Microchips can be implanted at anytime, some vets may have a personal preference of waiting till a certain age but there is no technical reason for this. Pups rarely make a fuss about having them done and it only takes a second. If your pups are labs, as suggested by your sig, they are usually quite brave about having their chips done, they are pretty thick skinned!!
If you google, Nobivac, this is one of the common vaccine manufacturers, their data sheets are online for you to check information. Nobivac dog vaccine is called DHPPi, also Nobivac Lepto.
 
We use Nobi vac and vaccinate and 8 and 10 weeks. We microchip at 2nd vacc (as they are a little bigger and we dont like doing too much at the 1st visit incase they become worried about coming to us) x
 
My litter were microchipped (and health checked) just before they went to their new homes at 8 weeks. New owners had their first vaccs done a few days later . The 2 pups that stayed here had first vacc at just over 8 weeks and 2nd at 10. We carried them out and about for lots of socialisation until they were covered.
 
I have always had the first ones done when we have the pup home, as it's also vet checked, think getting a horse vetted, if there is anything wrong I would be getting a refund. it's actually a good idea to ask the people who have purchased the pups what they want to do.
 
We have just bought a 14 week old puppy who wasn't vaccinated yet! I have heard that they have some of their mothers protection up to 16 weeks of age but I don't know for sure.
Our vets prefer to microchip them if they have to be knocked out for something else (eg neutering) especially if they are sensitive- we got our first dog done when the thought was 'as early as possible'- she yelped loads and bled for a while, we felt terrible. Also the vets told me that about 1 in 5 dogs, when microchipped young, the chip will move as they grow, and can end up in all sorts of places, so they like to wait until they are 6 months- 1year old, which is usually the time they will be spayed/neutered anyway if they are going to be, so saves them the pain!

That is a very interesting topic in itself. Mothers protection. My neighbour bought a doberman pup which contracted parvo. She had only had the pup a week and it died. I also thought that the mother had protection to a certain extent, but many people dont seem to keep the vaccinations up to date?
 
people may not keep vaccinations up to date but that is because in many cases the dog has had the initial puppy course of injections and there is some speculation about whether or not a yearly booster is needed. Owners can choose to have a blood test done to check levels of cover and in many cases a booster isnt needed. In some countries, boosters arent given every year, they are done less frequently.

That's an entirely different thing to not vaccinating a pup. Parvo is very much on the increase and the young are particularly vulnerable to it. Id never ever delay having a pup's vaccinations done.

I have never bought a pup already vaccinated at 8weeks but always get them done the very next day by my own vet. A good chance for a check up too.

However I just bought a new pup a couple of weeks ago , from a breeder I have previously bought from, and they have started giving a parvo vacc at 6 weeks.
