Our 7 month Spinone pup will still wee in the house overnight if she is left out of her crate, in her crate she is fine no accidents, so she can hold on. She will also wee sometimes during the day when left, not always, in general they are not left for more than 4-5hrs, its as if she thinks its fine to go when she needs to indoors. Any ideas how to get through to her this is not acceptable.
Thanks

Seven months is still quite young - some breeds bladder muscles develop quicker than others. Sounds like she still needs to be treated as a puppy.

although she can hold on when in the crate - she obv still needs to go. So either get up and let her out earlier, or keep using the crate. Tbh, id keep her in the crate for now as it will help her to train her bladder... these things take time, id leave her in it overight til she has been consistently dry in it for a few months ;)

My pup is 5 months and is still crated over night. She is consistantly clean in there and runs straight to the door on a morning for a weewee. We are going to keep her crated over night for a while longer, to help train that little bladder of hers and to enforce the idea that night time is sleep time.... not eat the furniture time.

I would maybe go back to crating, with more loo breaks.

B has not had any accidents in the house for weeks, but sometimes if the door is closed and she needs one she will go! We just up our forced toilet trips and watch her like a hawk because it usually happens when we are watching telly etc.

As mentiojed she is still very young and breeds do vary in their toilet training habits and how quick or slow they learn, in the crate she is holding because she is obs clean and does not want to sit in her own puddle:D which is a good thing, she is jsut not ready to be left out of it unsupervised yet, I generally advise to keep using the crate for up to 2 years and not be to hasty to keep her out of it otherwise u may not sort the issues, def keep her crated when u are out and when you are in bed for a good while yet before u try again.

Thanks for your replies, will leave her in the crate for now, just need to get my OH to see its the right way to go, especialy after a glass of wine or two!! is it just me or do others find men seem to think crates arn't nice for dogs!
Although we have an adult Spinone we got her at 11 months, she had lived outside and has always been clean, other than that we have mostly had border collies which have been clean very quickly, and a JRT who took till about 5 months, so never had one take this long.

Is she always weeing in the same place? What sort of flooring have you got?

Is she weeing near a kitchen unit or anything? I ask because we are having similar problems and we know why. Emma was peeing on the concrete floor by the back door. Concrete is porous so no matter what I did i couldnt get rid of the smell. So she continued to wee. We covered the floor in vinyl and she stopped weeing there but continued to wee by a kitchen unit. When we pulled the plinth out we could smell the wee as it had gone under the plinth and soaked under the vinyl flooring.

I have laced the underside of the flooring with white vinegar, citronella and get off! Plus an odour remover in the hope this will help. I am going to do it every day this week.

We went out on Monday (first time we had left her all day) and came back to a ripped up floor and she weed on the concrete and destroyed the new vinyl flooring (fortunately it was just an end of roll and we had cut and shut it to fit so not much money wasted but a bit of time wasted). So this weekend we are going to paint the floor with industrial paint! Just by the back door. This should stop the wee penetrating into the concrete. We will renew the vinyl later.

Emma is now in her crate again at night and in the afternoons if we are not here as that is when she is at her worst. She now has paper for bedding as she kept weeing on her duvet when in her crate. Last night she was clean but this morning at 6am she was desperate to go out (she bolted out into the garden) so I think she genuinely cant go all night easily yet. She is 10 months.

So we found a pattern in her urinating in the house (same places all the time) and I am trying do deal with each place. We currently have plinths removed to make cleaning easier!
By using the crate she is unable to wee in her favourite places so hopefully the smell will disappear with help. We also blocked off her favourite place on Monday, hence why I think she destroyed the flooring.

If you can find a pattern, you can begin to solve the problem.

My dogs have always been clean by this age so I am on a bit of a learning curve with this rather challenging one!;)

Thanks dozzie, it's nice to know were not alone. She dose tend to wee in two spots, by the patio door in the kitchen and by the cooker, which is near the backdoor, which runs under a cupboard, as you say kick boards removed, I am trying Bio washing liquid and white wine vinegar to try get rid of the smell. We have laminate flooring, which is a bit of a problem, not sure OH would be happy if I ripped it up, tho if she keeps it up we won't have a choice. Funny enough another place she wees is on the other dogs bed which is a duvet.
