So, what do they need to pack?

They have their baby photos, their next de-worming tablet, their Vet record books, and their bag of puppy food, anything else?

I did read about giving them a 'comfort blanket' that they've all been lying on for a few days, but does that really help?

I always give them a small piece of blanket yes. Other things, puppy sale contract, KC papers (if they are registered ), insurance, diet sheet, list of training clubs in the new owners area, newspapers in case of travel sickness. Think thats all but have probably forgotten something glaringly obvious that someone else will point out. Oh and tissues for yourself because its always sad when they go

Totally agree about blankey, my dog is 21 months old and he has a trouser leg with my scent on it which I leave with him if I go on hols or something

In seriousness, it will help them settle.

And...erm...all-growed-up piccies please for us lot please

Thankyou, I'll do the blankey thing then. I did put a big old towel in yesterday so I can cut that up for them.

I will miss them, but have to say that it will be nice to be able to actually walk without getting a pup stuck under my foot or attached to my jeans. Love them, I have had so much fun with these guys.

They were born on Victoria Day, hence their names.
Albert is in the centre, he is exactly like his sire. Very calm and affectionate and he is going to be a big dog too, not tall, just solid, the Vet liked him best and said how nice it was to see good solid GSDs.
Yesterday in the surgery another litter had just been in and they were what are called King Shepherds here, very lightweight and tall, almost looking like a Shepherd/wolf mix. Completely different and much more popular here than the 'classic' breed standard type.

Trixie is my favourite, very brave, always the one to go furthest and off by herself.

Alice is the prettiest.

I did a facebook album of the pups so that their new owners could see them from day one.

Beautiful pups, as I said before, and I agree with your vet, lovely substantial type and they have great expression!
I hope they have a lovely time in their new homes.

I was wondering what a King shepherd was, is it similar to the 'Shiloh' shephers they have in America? They're sort of modelled on London and his progeny, the dogs from the Littlest Hobo?!
We had three Canadians staying a few months ago and one of the girls asked if Bodo was a King shepherd, I just told her he was a sable GSD! He is mahoosive compared to his sister and was very leggy at the time so that figures, from what you say *off to Google them!*

Hacking Hack,

I have just had a look at Shiloh Shepherds, and no, that is not what they are calling King Shepherds here. The Shilohs appear to be stockier than the Kings.

Abbi toddles off to find King Sheps now.
A friend has one, and as a dog friendly person, I am ashamed to say that I truly dislike hers, and, am a bit scared of him to be honest. He is very dominant and thinks nothing of standing up and eyeballing you, and he's taller than me (I'm 5'1")

Google King Shepherds in the US. I saw one bitch advertised as 20 months old standing 29"! That's a flipping pony, not a dog!

The dogs I see in these links are much heavier than the 'Kings' I know here , perhaps they are just using it as a generic name for tall, light boned GSD's then.

They aren't pure shepherds at all, a mix of Shiloh, GSD, Malamute and Guardian dogs, a bit of all sorts thrown in. I think there is a quote along the lines at the bottom of this link saying "King Shepherds are a breed in the making."

!!!! Look at the size of those 'puppies'...good grief, I thought my fella was over size. And a lot of them could do with a good brush

Please God nobody over here gets any ideas.....I wonder if there are there any similar issues with hip, elbow and joint problems, especially if they are that big, that young.

And I know this isn't a really interesting point, but it would be nice if the show names fitted on to one line

Thanks for the links, I could be here all day (seeing as I am stuck in the house dogsitting my new breed, the Bucket-Headed Shepherd

Gorgeous pups Enfys, I know what you mean about puppies on trouser legs - have you tried wearing shoes with laces
laugh.gif

Not too sure about those King Shepherds, thought at first they were just oversize longcoats but reading the rest would seem they are introducing other breeds

Mind you the Americans very nearly ruined GSDs some years ago by creating massively overangulated dogs, seems they have to produce extremes in everything.

They are gorgeous! Are you keeping one?

No, I can't unless I pay another $200 a year Municipal Kennel Registration, the maximum number of dogs permitted per household in this county is 3, over that you have to get the Kennel registration, I already have 3 (inherited one with the house). Then there is the $35 annual license and the $100 compulsory vaccination fees, per dog. Not cheap keeping mutts here and that's before you start feeding them and other Vet stuff.

I love the Bumble bee comparison. Yes, they are happy, bouncy little fatsos aren't they?

Yours aren't fat, they are good healthy puppies, mine was

But it is lovely and I always think of her when I see a bumble bee!
That is interesting about the max dog rule...I am learning a lot from you today

Ooooooh!! That looks so like Puppy did as a little one it brought tears to my eyes. She is beautiful

I so miss having a GSD

They've all gone.

I am quite sad. The yard seems quite empty now, no more yelps and puppy growling going on. The three big dogs don't seem bothered at all.

The two girls went together which was nice.

Puppy, their ears are funny aren't they?
GSDs were never on my list of breeds I wanted, but I don't think I could ever not have one now. Although I'd still love a wolfhound, a catahoula, a weimar, a dachshund, a... the list goes on and on.

Isn't it quiet when they have all gone
frown.gif
Have to say most of my bitches seemed to heave a sigh of relief when the last pup left, one or two of them would have helped pack their bags if they could
wink.gif

Nothing so cute as a GSD pup wearing its ears every which way imo. And they do seem to suck people in, so many people have said what you say about them.

ETS. That reads a bit as if I have a kennel full of breeding bitches
frown.gif
so just wanted to clarify that I am talking of bitches I have owned over 30 + years, I have never had more than 3 breeding bitches at one time and never more than 2 litters a year, and that was in the late 70/80s when I was doing a lot of showing.
