Puppy Food Recommendation

We'll be picking up our new Bichon pup tomorrow. She's currently on Beta Puppy, which obviously we'll be continuing with initially.

But I'm not sure it's such a great feed - so any recommendations?

Ive tried a few, mine don't do well on Burns etc but do well on Arden Grange so I've stuck to it. Puppy 1st and then later the lamb adult as it has a better quality score than the chicken one.

Beta is made by Purina, who also make Bakers and who recently took over James Wellbeloved and promptly dropped the protein by 10%!

I think there are some fab foods out there that you can just shove in the bowl if you don't want to look at raw, for example. Were I to go back to kibble, I'd go for Wainwright's Fishmonger, which has more fish content than Fish4dogs (although I love their treats!) or for a little dog like yours, I might go back to Orijen or Acana, which works out not too expensive because less is needed than other poor quality foods.

James wellbeloved is part of the Crown Petfoods group along with Royal Canin - so it is part of Mars, not purina.
I prefer a wet diet for puppies and naturediet is easy & reliable.
The trouble with dog food score sites is that some firms tweak their labelling to improve teh score - eg using rice, brown rice & rice bran or worse using wheat, maize, pararie meal & barley to place the cereal lower down the listing. not all cereal is bad, not all meat is good - the detail is there in the labels.

I don't like Beta but Supadog sensitive puppy is worth a look.

Eeeeeee how exciting!!
My puppies had Burns puppy and they all did very well on it and look great now. It was the best one the agri place near us sold, there may well be something better though

My spaniel was reared on Burns puppy and did well on it, although we moved her off when she went onto the adult feed as she wasn't keen. We now feed Applaws after finally finding something she likes (expensive taste!).

But I hear Purina have just taken it over. I ruddy hope not. Royal Canin, I recently discovered (email from them) contains BHT/BHA, the same carcinogenics used in Bakers/Chappie dry/Pedigree/Wagg
