My 6 month old english pointer puppy has apparently mistaken my hen for a football. She picked her up and tossed her around a bit before abandoning the game. Poor Snowy is completely in shock. I cannot see any wounds or broken flesh and she can walk ok, but she has lost quite a few feathers.

I have put her in the hen house, given her access to water and favourite food (mealworms) and left her quietly. She hasn't really moved from the spot she went to at the back. Two questions;
1. Is there anything else I can usefully do for her?
2. Will the others bully her when they put themselves to bed ?

Any suggestions/info gratefully received.

Put her in a dark but ventilated cardboard box on a towel and can she come in the house overnight? Shock kills them quicker than injuries so she needs some time out. Can you drip a bit of warm water and honey down her? SLOWLY! A dropper is best. Rescue Remedy is good if you have it.
Warm and quiet is the best thing for her. She will be bruised as well. I hope the pointer wasn't intended for working!

C - many thanks ! Made me smile - Dash (the puppy) is supposed to be a working dog, but....! She is wilful, tricky and exceptionally (even for the breed) selectively deaf. She is also immensely loveable and makes me laugh (although not about the hen) and I adore every tiny hair little bit of her so I suspect a) it is my fault my husband is struggling to get her attention and, therefore b) she will end up my dog, like the pointer before her and the one before that !

Thanks for your advice, all taken and seems to be working.

How is she today? It wouild be best to get her out where her friends can at least see her, if she is up to it, so she doesn't get picked on when reintroduced. If she is still a bit down a seperate area would be good.
