Puppy training help/ tips

Have got a 12 week cocker, she will eventually be my yard dog on the yard I work at but after some Advice for training her now.. With the main question about giving treats as a reward/ training device. What have people done? Is it good or a bad idea? Thanks

Try putting this in dogs section? I don't use treats, but lots do.

I don't use treats, whistle is useful and saves you shouting, depends on what you want her to be able to do.

Yes I do. I use a reward based training system which can be food or toys.

When my oldest boy was a pup I went to a dog training class which did use some treats but also a lot of correction. When he was 18 months I started agility training at a different club where you can ONLY reward, which is standard across the whole agility scene (you can be told to leave a show if you seen to do anything that would be considered rough handling of a dog) and the response I got from my dog was instant. He was calmer, more focused and wanted to do what I asked rather than (I think) worry that he was going to get it wrong.
