My 10 month old labrador puppy (26kg) is currently having her first season. I already have a six year old bitch but she was spade after her first.

My puppy seems to be having a particularly heavy season (on day 3 now) with 10 pence piece marks being left on the floor where she sits, and if she lies down for a long time she leaves several drops on the floor when she gets up and shakes.

Am I being paranoid or should I be worried about this? Is there such as thing as too heavy a season?

Thanks in advance!

From what I can remember I was always running after mine with a damp cloth cleaning up so unless she looks unwell I wouldn't be too worried.

I think its just like humans, some have heavy some are lucky and have lighter ones! I wouldn't be too concerned unless something is strange about it! like mucus in it, or BLACK blood anything like that could be bad! if not, sure she is fine!

It does sound very normal. My older dog leaves almost nothing 'lying around' but it's because she is a very clean girl. My younger one just 'let it all hang out' and took a lot of cleaning up after.

My labrador who is 2 1/2 now, had her first season on her 1st birthday. It was quite light, the second season we gave her the injection to stop the season, the next one was heavier, the next she was put in pup, and the last one she had was very light, but she was desparate for a mate for at least 1 week. I think each dog differs same as women do. I am ahving my bitch done, I can't be doing with it anymore, plus I have another dog & bitch, I want them all neutered its much easier I think.
