So, I've seen an advert for a horse very close to me. Cheerfully drooling at the advert and video.

Problem is horse is advertised for £7k ono, and I'm limited to a max of £4.5K.

Is it worth contacting owner to ask them to let me know if they decide they are willing to consider a lower price in the future. Or, should I just drool at advert and not contact.

I've no intention of wasting their time on the phone or visiting if I really am being unrealistic.

Any thoughts?

No way....7k to 4.5k would offend me tbh. Offers around would be 6k minimum if it was me, but would be looking at 500 off if anything really. JMO.

You'll probably p them off a bit, but you know, if you don't ask, you don't get.
Is there anyway you could stretch your budget to 5K? That might sound a bit better!

Do you know how long the horse has been advertised for? If it has only gone on the market then I wouldn't bother making a low offer, but if you know it has been for sale a while then you have nothing to lose by asking!

The horse is on Horsequest and near the top of its section. Guess its very recent.

I am literally only a few villages away, so would prefer to avoid p****** off the vendors!

If the horse is still advertised and I'm still looking in a few weeks time I'll give them a call, and I will be very honest from the start.

Thanks for the replies

I'd email and say how you came across their ad while looking at horses for sale and that their quite local to you, what a lovely horse they have and how you wish you had an extra 2.5k in your budget, then wish them luck with their sale.

Just be very polite and I wouldn't 'openly' offer them 4.5k for their horse - I'd be flattered if I got an email like that, they also might be very fond of the horse and the fact that they could visit it and still see it around about might lead them to drasticly reduce the price..

Worth a go anyway..?
