I removed some burrs from the furry base of my horses ears last night, much to his chargrin and this morning noticed some pus and clear liquid around the base, he is fine with me touching his ears now and is well in himself eating and not shaking his head or anything, but I would like to know if I should put some drops in his ears and which ones to ask the vet for? Can anyone answer this, thank you.

I wouldn't put anything in it. Did you clean it with salt water or diluted hibi? If it feels hot or oozes anymore you need to get the vet out for antibiotics. If not just keep an eye on it.

It's probably just a bit of an inflammatory reaction then, infection is usually accompanied with heat. Yeah a little bit of hibiscrub mixed with water, if you have warmed salt water I would rather use that though.

Bless you and thank you for your help. I went and got him in and there is no more pus or liquid and he was fine about me running my finger in there so I guess the alarm is over. Just in all my years had never seen that before, thank you, much appreciated.
