Frank weighs about 3kg, Stanley about 6kg.
I put Stanley’s flea treatment (for cats between 4 and 8kg) on Frank tonight.
I even checked the box to make sure I got the right one so goodness knows how I did it :(
Feel like I’m not fit to have cats at the moment.
Is Frank going to be ok or should I try and wash the flea treatment off or anything else?! Can call the vets in the morning but don’t really feel it’s an out of hours emergency

I'm so sorry, I don't know that answer. Is there any info on the instruction leaflet? Maybe it would be worth ringing the vet before it gets any later, they might be able to help over the phone with a quick conversation that won't inconvenience the vet too much. If he looks ill or 'wrong' in any way, trust your gut and do the emergency call.

I hope that he's OK and has no problems. Hopefully a common treatment like that isn't so critical on the dose that accidently giving the wrong dose is an issue.

Please don't beat yourself up too much.

What's the active? If it's topical I would agree with Meowy Catkins that it's not so dose critical.... Things like ivermectin are also used on hamsters/mice and dosing them properly is really hard so overdoing is easily done with no ill effects. So I imagine a cat would be ok but ditto ringing the vet to check if you're worried. We've all done these things, it doesn't mean you're not fit to own cats - all it means is you just made one small error.

Phone the vet and get their advise. I phoned my vet ooh when my dog got stung by several wasps, he was ok but I was just checking I didn’t need to do anything. Hope everything is ok.

It was prinovox cat flea treatment, thankfully he seems absolutely fine in himself.
However to avoid further panic I did ring the vet. Luckily they know us very well (or should that be unluckily?!) and she was lovely and reassuring and said he should be absolutely fine, I can try to wash it off if I’m really concerned but it’s quite safe as drugs go and Frank isn’t too far under the lower weight limit. But to obviously keep an eye on him and call back if we need to.
They’re such a lovely vets and we’re super lucky they do their own out of hours as well.
Big sigh of relief all round, now just fingers crossed he stays ok!

Thankyou everyone!

As an aside, I learnt something new tonight, I had no idea small furries get flea treated too (I’m very phobic of them so not writing out what small furries in particular!)

Oooh so pleased that all is well - thank you for the update!

It's for mites more commonly than fleas but yes all small creatures (except Chinchillas) can get fleas/mites and the same drugs are used as in other species :)
You can even use praziquantel and fenbendazole in fish for flukes and intestinal worms, dissolved in the water.
