My horse likes to stand looking at the world and munching. I like to sweep the bedding back a bit, so I put a single mat at the front of the box, in the doorway. I don't know if it is of benefit. I just think it's nicer than her standing on concrete in front and bedding behind.

I only have it at the front. Its good because it means he has a smaller bed... Less work for me lol. Could'nt say about comfort but he still lies down and seems quite happy... so hope that helps

I have three mats which cover the front half of my stable, she still has a large bed behind this, but her stable is huuge 14x16 I think, so it gives me peace of mind that if she lies down at the front, she won't hurt herself. I don't find they move much, an inch maybe over two weeks, but she is quite active in her box, so this must cause the movement.

i have a 6ft x 4ft mat at the front of my stable- it's just there for my piece of mind really, as the floor is cobbled and can get slippy, and its the only part of Solo's box that doesn't have straw down. It hasn't slipped yet.
