Putting a horse on loan

I'm umming and ahhing about putting one of my horses out on loan as I don't have the time for two any more and not sure I can bring myself to sell him at the moment.

Where's the best place to advertise and what sort of things should I look out for to make sure he goes to the right person? Would it be feasible to put for him to stay at current yard for a few weeks then discuss option of moving him?

Are you planning on putting him out on full loan (if so most people would probably expect to move him to their yard if its a fairly long term loan) or you could try a share, that way you can still be involved...?

I think most of them have sections for loans...obviously if you can find someone by word of mouth its much better, I find internet ads tend to attract all sorts but they can be useful as long as you're willing to spend the time weeding out the nutters! You can also try local fb pages and tack shops etc.
It might be worth adding a little more detail on here (height, type etc.) and if you're lucky you might find a nice HHO'er to take him on

Yes full loan.

He's a 17hh, 10yr old, Chestnut ex racer who needs someone confident, experienced and looking for a challenge to bring him back into work. I've not ridden him since September last year and taking all things into consideration don't think I'm going to have time in the near future, I feel he's wasted. He can be a little naughty (odd buck, tries to nap) sometimes but nothing I feel that can't be sorted out with regular riding. He's ridden in a french link snaffle. Loaded alright when I brought him home but not travelled him since. He loves being groomed but can't get clippers near him. He's not good with things behind him unless he's given plenty of warning.

Would rather find someone through word of mouth, he's my baby

Don't mind him going to another yard but it has to be the right person.
