Putting KY jelly on his ..... erm ..... you know what ??!!!

Ok, embarrassing question but ............ friend of a friend of a friend said their vet said the best thing to put on a geldings willy to help keep it clean is KY jelly

, as it is water based, works really well and will not irritate.

Does anyone use it or anyone else heard this ?

Everyone on my yard always uses baby oil - is that bad ??!!

I was once advised by my vet to put womens antifungal yeast infection cream in my horses ears.
I had a wonderful time explaining that to the pharmacist.

She kept trying to persuade me that the capsule insert type things were better so I just had to explain why I needed the old fashioned cream stuff! lol

She did say it was a first for her

Zigzag - what exactly did your vet say it does? I know its prob a stupid question but is it just to help keep it clean etc. ? Only my boy's thingy gets quite mucky - he's ok about me cleaning it so am just wondering if this would help soften all the (excuse this it sounds disgusting!!) crusty bits !!??

he said it helps to soften it and make it more comfortable for the horse plus it is waterbased so no nasty chemicals, Freddie used to get lots of smegma and it would go hard and his sheath would swell up

Just imagine what would be going through the mind of the checkout operator if you bought KY Jelly in bulk!! I would not give them the satisfaction of the explanation - let them wonder!
 
I use babyoil and that does the job very well - might get some KY though as it would be better to use something water based I suppose.

Ah well, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about and I NOW know that that exact same cream is also marketed (in Argentina at least) with the exact same packaging (but diff name) and exact same ingredients... as... athlete's foot cream.
That would've been less embarrassing, wouldn't it?
