So, show mix is defo a no no and I don't like baileys build up cubes as Ty bucked me off when he had those ..... my friend has mentioned alfa beet but just wondered if anyone has put their horse on it..?

Alfa Beet is good... both of my mares are on it, and one heats up VERY easily with feed (Herbichop had her scaling the walls

). Great conditioning feed, and also palatable.

What do you mix it with hun? My friend feeds with that and alfa a.....seriously considering moving Oscar over to it as pasture mix (a scoop morning and night) is just not doing anything!

Calm and Condition is fab......

mmm, does it have alot of oil in it though? I think it's the oil that's sent my boy nutty as show mix doesn't really have anything in it that pasture mix doesn't apart from buckets of oil!

I use alpha with oil pasture mix kwik beet and topspec balancer for 6 yr old tb .He is recovering at moment from surgery is only allowed to walk and is behaving impeccably.I cant feed haylage unless he is doing lots of work it sends him ott.

He's already on pasture mix and it's not really doing anything....

Cool and condition had the complete opposite effect on said girl

I feed both of mine on:

Alfa A (recommended amount for work done)
TopSpec Comprehensive Balancer
Outshine (coat condition amounts... so 1 cup a day)
Alfa Beet

Han is in full work and very fit on this (plus she is muscling up beautifully now) and Grace will hopefully stay on this high fibre diet when she comes into work. I did have her on Endurance Mix as she is a fussy eater and loses weight easily, but I am hoping with the Alfa Beet she is now on, she will eat more and not lose the condition (if we ever get to that stage!!!)

Sorry, meant Calm and Condition

Sorry! That sent Han over the edge, no idea where I got Cool and Condition from

It's weird isn't it how different they all are....anytihng with 'condition' in the title seems to send my boys mad!

What does the topspec balancer do?

Gives them all the vits, mins etc they need
smile.gif
But it is non-cereal based which is why seems to bring Grace up in lumps! I have to say, my two are looking fantastic on this diet. I'll get some pics of Han when I get chance because she has really changed... I wouldn't go back to feeding a mix unless I absolutely had to now, I am a big supporter of fibre diets and the Alfa Beet seems to complement it too

oooo, interesting - think I might try both mine on it then.....they will be out 247 soon though so will just give them a token feed!

I have just been recommended top spec mix I think its cool cubes Ill check tommorrow for extra fibre and protein will be changing as soon as I have used pasture mix up.Build up was always good for condition and weight but I swapped to pasture when he was on box rest but I am very impressed with the difference since I have put him on balancer.Hes remained really level headed and focused. His weight is good too 510 for 16 h tb that seems quite good.

iv been using sumo original by rowan barbury feeds
http://www.dobbinsden.com/html/rowan_barbury_feeds.html
its 50% oil based and as put weight on my 4yr old gelding and my 2 yr old sec c who cant be fed cereal, i pay £17.50 for a 15kg bag which isnt cheap but when only used on one horse it can last quite a few weeks and as its mostly oil it gives coat a good shine and doesnt fizz them up at all
beware though its smells awful!!! but horses still eat it

why cant i sell my lightweight trailer??????

Juevans...I Can't see sumo original on there, so which one is it on the list you have given please? thankyou.
And where do you get it from ?, many thanks .

I feed our 2 on Alfa a oil, alfa beet (although will probably reduce as grass comes in) and alfalfa pellets (in feed ball) plus pink powder, garlic, biotin and linseed. TB boy has dropped a bit of weight towards the end of the winter but not too bad and he was sane and sensible most of the time!
