I've been doing a lot of enrichment with the boys lately and they really enjoy it. We had 4 Nina Ottoson puzzle type games. They are only the level 1s and they do them without really thinking about it now. I've ordered some level 2 and 3s, theres lots going cheap on vinted for anyone looking! These involve 2 or 3 different actions. I think its unlikely they would figure it out by trial and error, so do I teach them how to do it? or is the figuring out the whole point? And at some point will they have all the games sussed and then theres no new ones and theres no point doing it anymore? Or is there a point in them doing them even if they know the process?

They do seem to struggle with picking up the plastic bones and boxes, they have little whippet jaws so it looks difficult. I assume I can get some cord and let them use that? It looks frustrating to me just watching when they cant get a grip on them to lift them out of the way, so they must be frustrated with it as well,

Ive also just got a set of those talking buttons to teach Cooper to use which is no doubt something I will live to regret when he demands food, walk, cuddle on a loop 24/7 😂 We do enrichement boxes and scent work and find it and target training, so they do other stuff, this is just a random brain dump about dog puzzle games

I have a couple of these games for my whippets and they pretty much go at them like bulls in China shop and it’s game over in less than a minute ! It’s less trial and error and more maximum demolition. I do have one of those things that they push a button and then it dispenses treats. They’ll hit the button, run for the treat and while they are heading back to the treat dispenser I hide the button somewhere else so they have to find the button (if that makes sense). They have worked out that when the button “sounds” it occasionally mis-signals to the treat dispenser and nothing comes out, so they actually wait to hear the whirl of the dispenser before they run to it, and if they don’t hear that, they hit the button again.

My Manchesters can do them no bother and there's no way the 7kg bitch has a bigger jaw than a whippet??

Dunno then, they cant seem to get hold of them. Maybe its more they cant get a grip, or maybe as lizziebell said, they just prefer violence 😂 I've got some cord now so will try that.

I've been trying to teach my neighbours collies to do them today. I thought collies were smart but these two were flummoxed even with the simple ones. Interesting to see how different breeds think and work at solving puzzles though!

Yep, mine don’t seem to be able to grip the bones with their mouths either. Brute force with paws; half the time it’s impact that moves them and the other half they catch a claw in the hole which flips them.

Theres lots of whacking with paws by my older boy, the younger one likes to use his nose to push things around. If they start wanting to flip them over, I put my foot on it to stop them though!

I have the sudoku one, the dog has to push little piece of plastic to open the box, they slide quiet easily.
It might be good for them ?

My Basset broke it completly at first then now, she got the hang of it and really enjoy doing it !
