Well I had the pysio out to Ruby yesterday. She's not been right lately. Reluctance to go forwards, especially on one rein. Reluctance to pick feet up. Final straw came when I picked up her front right and she fell over on to her face. Called the vet, who checked balance and soundness. She appears to be less then a tenth lame on her right hind. Vet recomended pysio as she doubted it was the leg causing any problems as it was only every now and then when Ruby took a stride it wasn't right.

Pysio came and checked her over. She seems to be having problems on her left side on her hind quaters. Ruby had an injury about 2 months ago on her right hind (not related to lameness) and pysio thinks that the muscle problem is due to Ruby not wanted to bear weight on that leg so is compensating on her left which is causing the problems. The right leg is fine now though so the muscle needs to be built slowly. So lots of lungeing, walking in hand and long reining me thinks. Pysio also checked the saddle, she said it was a little tight across her withers so don't ride in it as it will cause problems (not my saddle, saddle fitter is due in Oct!) My YO is letting my ride my old share Horse til saddle is sorted. So not a problem :).

Just hope my Rubys feels better soon. I have 3 stretches to do with her. Pysio is coming back next month to look at her again and see how much shes improved.

Oreo cookies if you got this far!

At least you now know what the problem is, and this can be worked on easily enough.

She should build up quite quickly by doing the excersice (sp) ahh well..

I have the back lady out on 2nd Sept too just to give him a once over really then will have the saddler out then everything has been checked!
