I have only been at the yard I'm now at for 3 weeks, and it's great so far

I do miss my friends form my old yard though - I find people are really important and everyone at my new yard is lovely.

Mine are on grass livery. But Im very happy where I keep them its just me and 2 other girls and we all get on really well. theres no accessories like sand schools or anything but theres 2 sand schools close I could hire out if I want to.

Much better than the last place where I was definitely unhappy. Like Bex, I do miss my friends, I left my best friend behind at the old yard

'poor horse care' is a very broad comment and can cover many basis be it from occasionally forgetting to pick out hooves to always forgetting to give water... if you see what i mean!

I thought the exact same thing! If I thought my horses weren't being treated right I wouldn't be there!

I answered unhappy because of poor horse care.

Examples are - changing feeds without my knowledge (started giving a box rest horse a whole stubbs scoop of hard feed), not giving bute and antibiotics as requested, and will not give haylage in the morning until he gets mucked out (usually 10-11am).

He is on full/part livery however you class it, I tend to go up morning and evening just to double check on things anyway.

He is staying there as it is a large busy yard and he is very settled on his box rest. However he will move as soon as box rest is over!

Theres only 3 people that I will let look after my horses, 1 being my OH and then 1 of the girls on the yard and a good friend of mine who owns Bears Dad and Bertie's sister. Buddie can be very nervous of strangers so I like for him to feel safe. That might sound soppy but he had a hard start to life and finds it hard to trust people. He's known my OH for 6 years and still has off days with him!

I selected not happy, although untill recent I have been. I'm on DIY been there nearly 3 years ish and the yard have recently decided to stop picking out feet, washing off legs and changing rugs etc. Really I'm lucky as I have special needs pony that can't be left out, so he is always brough in when he is turned out (only once a week - not happy with that either but he is only happy by himself in stallion field in the middle of the yard and its reserved for stallions) other people have to bring in their horses. They also wont muckout or do full cover anymore. Before they would do all these things for an extra price. I've also been getting annoyed because my headcollars and skips have been leaving my stable and going walkies without my permission, yard says it has nothing to do with them yet when I complained about it in the book my skip turned up. Trouble with moving is that everywhere else in the area has no turnout, or terrible facilities, we are looking at east herts on sat and are hoping to move there!

I said not happy, mainly lack of fields and rotation, as they are a little poached round gateways and no option to use another field, so they have the run of two at the mo. Also no facilities, no school or proper stabling, coverted barn thing, safe enough but not very pretty looking!

One nice thing is there are only 3 liveries and 2 ponies that live there so it's small and no one to intefere or tell me to sweep up the yard!

Would like to move but finances being very tight I can't! Unless I was to loan/part loan.

I said happy with the yard, but then I live on it! Some of the liveries do bug the hell out of me, but when I can look out the window and see my horses it makes up for all the know it all's!!!

Crikes, some of you seem to expect a lot and I wonder how much you are willing to pay for it. On my yard, it is £12 a day full livery (£85pw) but that does not stretch far when you think of all the costs of running / maintaining a yard plus the need to make a living. The level of service is probably strongly linked to charge - you don't buy a ford and expect a Rolls Royce.

QR - Ver interesting - Almost 1 in 5 people are not happy on their current yard.

Most people are DIY

The number one complaint is unpleansant other liveries on yard, followed by difficult/unreasonable yard owner. Just goes to show how important human relationships are??!
