I have bought myself a quadbike :)

I need to insure it - who are people using for this. I currently have a quote from Greenlands and have requested one from NFU (but I suspect they'll ignore me as usual).

Also, I would like to be some sort of harrow/roller and again would appreciate any recommendations.

I have 3 acres of sloping land which has got very rutted over the winter and with this dry spell has now hardened into deep ruts.
The farmer is taking some time to get out to me to roll or harrow this for me and I would like to be able to do this myself at the right time rather than rely on other people.

Logic make a ballast roller especially for use with quads you can fill it up with water to alter the weight.
Hope you have got a 4 wheel drive quad as they are the ones that manage best towing stuff particularly on undulating ground.
We insured with NFU most insurance companies haven't got a clue what a quad/atv is.
It was quite expensive and you only get the deprecated value as it ages (I suppose fair enough) .
Our is shut in a locked barn and chained to a ring it the floor .They are the most stolen items on a farm or smallholding.

We SORN'd our road-legal quad so it could be covered in our home/yard insurance. Might that work for you?
Hopefully you've got one with a large engine (and some grunt!). At this time of year I'd suggest lots of harrowing rather than rolling. Harrowing smooths out the ruts well without compacting the soil that can cause drainage problems. After harrowing the fields look really messy, but the grass grows back much better with air in the soil. After a few weeks it's tidy and lush!
You might need to wait for the right amount of rain for the harrow to work, but not too much that your quad gets stuck in the mud😉

Insurance started with NFU which was an all singing all dancing policy that also covered all attachments, but as quite a few folk local to me had their quads stolen, the price just kept going up, and I got a slightly newer quadwhich also bumped up the price. I changed to Bikesure, lots cheaper but no cover for attachments. Am now with Shearwater Insurance, reasonable cost, no cover for attachments, but they are all older now, and I keep the better items chained up when not in use.
Mine is parked in our integral garage, I have absolutely no doubt there have been people sniffing around but 🤷‍♀️
I've got a roller as mentioned above, only have a little spring time harrow, I should buy a proper chain one

I'd also look at having a tracker fitted! They are stolen so often round here.
I'd love one for the yard but I don't have any where secure enough to keep it, and no room at home either!

Ours is SORN and is covered by our house/stables insurance so doesn't actually cost anything. But the cover is for quads upto 500cc, and must be in a locked building overnight. If I recall it can't be left unattended outside between 6pm and 8am. Ours is deadbolted to the garage floor. When we got it this was highly recommended and was a term of our last insurer. I think there is a maximum value too but can't remember what it is.

What machinery you can use will depend on its CC and if its 4WD. Ours is 500cc and we use a 5ft chain harrow so there is not much weight but we do the fields when they are wetter and that works for us. We used to put a pallet on the harrow and wait till its a bit drier but dry enough and too dry can happen over night. We also have an Arena Mate grass harrow which has really improved the grazing and an ArenaMate leveller for the menage. Also a small trailer for muck picking and generally moving thngs around. We only have 7 acres of grazing.
We don't roll the fields as this compacts the ground but if it was too messy you would probably need to
