There are several well recommended saddle fitters in my area but they are not on the soc of master saddlers list, although some work for one of the saddle selling outlets. Is there alternative society they may be listed on. Or how can I find out what their qualifications are ?

To be on the website they have to pay a yearly membership, this covers extra/training news etc and I think there are some folks out there who are QSF's but who no longer pay the subscription type thing so don't appear on the lists.

Also, after doing the SMS Introduction to Saddle Fitting course fitters have to work & train as a fitter for 3 years before being allowed to take the exam, it could be that the folks you have been reccomended are still in this 3 year period?

Hope this helps, PM if you like as rather sadly (due to old job) I know most of the QSF & non qualified but good fitters in the uk :)

Hi, I don't know what area your in, Ive just used Jill from Meadowlea saddlery in West Meon, Hampshire.
She spent about 2hrs with my horse trying 4 saddles, taking pictures and watching me ride, Ive never used a master saddler before but my horse is now going so much better and Id never use a saddle seller, or fitter any more.

Can any of the Master saddlers on the list travel to you? Id say it's definitely worth it.
