Just wondering out of interest, as I enjoy my showing etc, and I accept that to get to this standard requires a lot of time and money.... but what does one have to do to qualify for HOYS? Are there specific classes at county level or higher to qualify? do you just enter?
anyone explain to little old duncy me?

Next year I am so getting more than an evening ticket (and taking WAY more money for shopping!

there are hoys qualifying classes that you have to win normaly at county level and you also need to be a member of a society relivant to the class you are doing. I looked into trying to qualify a hunter i used to ride but it would have cost over £250 to get him registered then entry fees are around £40 per class i think! I was going to do the search for a star qualifyers but i stopped riding the horse before i got the chance. i hope this is of some help to you.
Lucky you for getting to go to hoys last night i wish i could have gone my boss breed the supreme horse the philanderer i wish i had been there to see him.

cool thank you!

I don't get to try to qualify yet as I dont have time, but would LOVE to once I graduate etc

But WOW thats expensive! lol

The philanderer and all other supreme champs were well behaved, beautifully presented and stunning to watch! However, phil didnt like the final singing of the national anthem bless him!

The supreme pony was also a stunning little horse! but obv I aint gonna be ever sat on a pony again (being 5ft 10"! lol )

Search for a Star is the "cheapest" way as you dont have to be registered and i think its £35 ish a class. Otherwise you have to be registered with the appropiate society (height certificates as well if required)for the class and enter HOYS qualifiers. Usually County Shows but they are about £45-50 a class...

cool! As I say, was pretty certain it wasnt going to be cheap. But would be like a dream thing to get to qualify for HOYS......... I mean dont get me wrong I will never be able to afford a philanderer or anything, but its nice to dream, and at least know what to aim for
