Hi hope someone can help!
I'm looking for a really nice quality snaffle bridle. Ideally with a patent noseband and nice padded headpiece. I have had a Henry James one since February and the leather work is cracking so won't buy from them again. (I clean my bridle regularly and it rarely gets wet, so I don't think care is the issue).
I have recently bought an Ivy HorseFashion one which is cracking even worse than the Henry James one. I have seen a Stampede one in person which is nice, however can't buy pieces of it that I can see.
Needs to be able to be bought in parts as my horse is a mixture of cob/full. Quality leather is a must, no cracking or horrible rough leather on the inside please.

I had a wonderful Premier Equine bridle that was beautifully soft out of the bag, you can buy pieces to suit what you need and the prices are quite good. Mine wasn't lovingly looked after - it had a wipe over after every ride, but for a thorough conditioning clean that was once or twice a year, so not the best at tack cleaning but equally not the worst aha! I'm not sure if they have an option for a patent noseband but I know they have options x The headpieces are anatomically shaped as standard too x

I had a feel of a Lemieux bridle in my local tack shop recently and was pleasantly surprised as I don’t normally think their products are good for quality, but it was nice and soft. I guess because of that it would stretch easily.

My favourite are horsemanship saddlery. You can buy whatever combination of parts and sizes you need

I really rate my Flexible Fit bridles- they are an Australian company. My main bridle has been going for nearly 7 years and still looks really good. They have gel padded headpieces which I think make it mould to the horse better than traditional

Wolds Exlusive Bling has made all my bridles. You can get Larrisa out to measure and fit on site or send your measurements. Choose you colour, leather type and style. Also add some bling! You can find on Facebook her page.

Love Horsemanship Saddlery ones, you can build it to fit your horse perfectly, and the leather is beautiful. I use them every day/ in all weather, and they look like, and I use them as show bridles. Not sure if they do patent nosebands though...

Thank you. I don't suppose anyone knows whether their recommendations use Sedgwick leather? I've heard there are different grades of Sedgwick leather and I think I'm looking for someone who uses the top grade. It's such a minefield trying to view the quality! I keep going on eBay to try to see non-marketing pictures of the quality/how well it's worn.

I know Larrissa from Wolds Exclusive Bling uses Sedgwick leather but not sure on the grades.

I think both Jeffries and M&N do. Sabre probably also. There are also smaller companies out there, although they are getting scarce and hard to find in tack shops. I have a Kirkland (or something like that!) head and cheeks, that I have had for 25 years and it still looks and feels fabulous. That company has sadly closed. I bought that bridle from Wychanger, so have a look at some of the less know brands in the more traditional tack shops. If you can find one!

Wolds Exclusive Bling are local to me and as such a few people locally have them. They look stunning and do not have to be bling if that is not your thing. I don't think you would get better

Another vote for Wolds Exclusive Bling - just waiting for my second bridle at the min.
First one was done during lockdown with remote fitting/measuring and is still immaculate.
This one Lara came out to work out what we needed.

Sabre although when I looked recently I couldn't find a comfort headpiece, only the traditional style with the noseband running underneath.

In the end the only option that met my requirements - decent headpiece, flat noseband, nice leather and mix and match - was the Shires Velcociti. I was a bit sceptical but it is lovely quality. Very soft and well finished. I do still use my HJ reins though!

I have spoken to her today on the phone, she gave me some very good advice so think that's the route I'll end up going down. Excited to see one in person!

In her final year, I rode my old share Western style in her Sabre bridle but without a noseband. I removed it because she had a full cheek bit and if she got her head down to graze while I was riding (if I let her because I had stopped to chat with a dog walker) the cheek piece got stuck under the nose band.
This memory seems odd as my pic of me riding her shows her in a plain snaffle bit. An RS rider or sharer doesnt always know the rhyme or reason behind the choice of tack they are given. They are often solutions to problems another more vigourous rider had with a horse which gives an elderly muppet rider like me no trouble at all .

Ive just bought a lovely one from Stampede Equestrian. Its patent noseband with detachable flash
