thought I'd do an update as well. he's a lovely dog, very sweet and very trainable. he has his moments but he's the calmest pup at work by far. He's doing puppy classes and I plan on doing some scent work and tracking with him. the only problem we had as such was car sickness but he's seems over it. He's very leggy right now and most people don't believe me when I say he's a goldie.

Now, before people gasp in horror at the harness-his training walks etc are all done on a slip lead and he's walking well on it. Sometimes though, when pootling about, I like the harness-he's still expected to walk nicely on it. And he has a leather collar, this is his yellow paisley 'day' collar ;) (can't go past paisley, am an 80's chick)

What a lovely handsome boy. I like harnesses on dogs who don't yet understand heelwork. I use them sometimes in high energy situations even for older dogs.

If you want another one I know of a pregnant WGR bitch........... Hips and eyes ok, works well and lives in with other dogs as a wonderful pet.........

thanks Thistle. They have their uses in certain situations, not least when you want them to carry stuff (not that carrying water in Scotland has ever been necessary ;) )

Actually, OH and I were talking about this yesterday-about how we wouldn't say no to a goldie bitch to make a pair.. but timing would be a bit off I think-I've no decent chunk of annual leave until christmas-when's she due?
 
Update at 21 weeks :)

Such a lovely dog, great company, really trainable, wants to please without being neurotic about it. We start scent work classes week after next and hopefully tracking if we can make it. We go off to Mull for a long weekend with him end of October :) The one thing he finds irresistible is the cat but then the cat spends much of his spare time mocking him..


He's growing so quickly its scary and my main problem is second guessing what I'm feeding and how much exercise-vet thinks I'm neurotic.

He's beautiful. He will love the scentwork and tracking. I am just waiting on my friend arriving and we are doing scentwork with our dogs. Hers are trained on gun oil and mine on catnip at the moment. The dogs love it.
 
thank you-have fun! He's really athletic, I don't know why I am so surprised constantly by this (except the setter took a year or more to find out where his legs were) but he loves to jump and I spend my time trying to not let him.
