Not technically livery - basically I took on a friends horse last year to ride for her and sell and now a couple of friends have asked if Id back their ponies for them. I would be charging them. It would be a case of having them at mine (they'd have their own paddock so wouldn't mix with my horses) - but I'm worried if something happened to their horse while on my property/in my care, where would I stand? I would still be working normally full time so it would purely be a pocket-money earner on the side.

Does being a member of BRC, BSJA or BE cover me? If not, what insurance would cover me and how much would it be?! Obviously I wouldn't make much money out of doing this so need to know if it's worth it.

might want to think about having a contract for this, insurance issues, as well as how your premises changes as you're now making money from having horses on your site, i think there's new laws in place which alter something to do with this....I'll wait for a legal eagle to swoop in here and fill in the gaps

the fact your not making much money isn't the issues unfortunately, you're still doing it for money changing hands which has many implications

you will need commercial insurance, public liability, 3 c liability and possibly change of use on your premises to business use!!!!n you will need contracts and the owner will still need to insure the individual animal for liability and vets fees! your BRC, BSJA,BD orBE insurance will NOT cover you for accidents and liability as you are doing this for FINANCIAL gain, therefore business!
