One of my close friends has handed in their notice at their livery yard. They recieved a letter today saying they wouldnt be recieving their deposit in full because there is a scrape on the stable door from her horse. Now thid yard is pretty makeshift and is in poor stateof repair anyway. The manager is nasty and being spiteful! Where does this leave her. The contract says that deposits will be returned upom check of the stable and that they are the same state as when taken on. Where does this leave my friend. All advice welcome

They say she won't be receiving her deposit *in full* which implies they are only taking off some money to repair the door. I would tell your friend to ask them just how much they intend taking off the deposit and if it is greater than the cost to fix it then have her get someone in to repair any damage done.

Oops I missed the "in full" bit :o

She wasnt aware that maintenace was her responsibility and thought she just had to leave it clean and tidy

Maintenance normally isn't the renters responsibility but it totally depends on what it says in her livery contract relating to the deposit she paid. How much is the deposit anyway?
