A friend and I were looking around the local tack shop today as she wanted a pelham for showing. While we were looking at the 'normal' pelham, we saw a couple of Rugby pelhams. Out of curiosity, I think that these are used with a slip head, I assume that goes to the loose 'snaffle' ring, is that correct? What is the difference between the Rugby and 'standard' pelham, does the action differ?

Just a question out of interest!

Thanks!

Yes you need a head slip / slip head , Its basically less hassle than a double bridle and obviously easier on the horses mouth with just the one bit . Its basically the same as a standard pelham

I used one on my mare once when i did a show but didn't want to use a proper double bridle. She went quite nicely in it. xxx
