question about advocate and worming

I took Ty to the vets on Monday and got him some advocate for flea prevention and the vet has also given him milbemax worming tablets to take. I applied the advocate today and when reading the information it says it is effective at killing most intestinal worms also.Now my question is do I still need to give the milbemax or will the advocate do the job? I don't want to risk overdosing him or making the worms resistant by over doing things now.

Even though the spot on's cover worming, it is still advised that u worm with a good wormer every 12 month still (and that is what I tend to do), as a precaution as it is thought the spot on wormers are not quite as effective/strong as the wormers your vet gave along side the spot on, has it been a while since u wormed?
Not all vets will advise that but a few I work with and a few I don't ...lol, advise to do it this way.

I would give the millbemax as well. I have been using the spot on combined flea and wormer on our cats, the reason being obvious to anyone who has tried to give tablets to a cat. One of them hunts more than the other and every few weeks she throws up a couple of worms. I spoke to the vet about this and she recommended I do them with tablets as they were more efficient. She didn't offer to come and dose the little b's though , but we did manage it when daughter was home without too much blood being drawn.

We have only had him for a few weeks.He has a somewhat dubious worming history unfortunately so maybe that is why the vet decided to ensure he is properly wormed. I know he was done regularly in his rescue home but I don't think they had him very long as he is only just 8 months old now.
Murphysminder I also have cats so I can totally understand where you are coming from.One of mine requires 2 people to hold her still while another sticks the tablet down her throat. She is worse than evil once she knows what is coming and will hiss and attack before you can get near to her.The trick is to wake her up from sleep to do it while giving her plenty of fuss before she cottons on to what you're doing.
