Can anyone tell me - if I wanted to end up with a palomino foal from my chestnut filly, would it be as simple as putting her to a palomino stallion then having a 50/50 chance that the foal would be palomino ? Im sure there is more to it than that ... can anyone explain in simplistic terms ? she is by a chestnut stallion out of a bay mare. Thanks

I'm not 100% sure, but i think if you put your chestnut mare to a cremello stallion, you will have a palamino foal

I know this stallion will definitely always throw a palamino out of a chestnut

also this is a good site for dilute colour genetics

If you put your chestnut to a palomino you have a 50% chance of a palomino foal and 50% chance of a chestnut foal.

If you put your chestnut to a cremello (such as Milky Way), you are guaranteed 100% a palomino foal.

Im pleased to read that you want a palomino - they are the best!
