I have to display signs on my property advising visitors (invited or not) that they are being monitored by CCTV.

I don't have a hat camera yet but am considering buying one.

If i'm out on a hack and the camera records a traffic incident involving me and my horse or say my horse gets attacked by a dog and the owners face is caught on tape could the courts argue that the video evidence is inadmissable because i have not displayed that CCTV is present? i.e my tabard advising that CCTV is on board.

Under the Human Rights Act everyone has a right to privacy, even in public places

An interesting question as I'm considering getting a headcam, not only for xc but also when hacking, having read the article I a recent H&H. I just googled "headcam tabard" to see what was available and found a web site which said that there was no need to alert people to the fact that you were recording. Look at the HRSA site for more info.

I have 2 friends, one has a camera in their car, the other has a head cam whilst riding a push bike. They were told that they don't need to have signs making people aware that they are filming BUT they were told that in the event of an altercation they would be pertinent to tell the other party very clearly -so it can be heard on camera, that they are being filmed & if necessary the footage will be given to the police.

IT is not a problem recording images without a warning but it is actually illegal to record sound without warning that the recording is happening.Several places that have CCTV with sound have been prosecuted if no sign.
There are also other interesting things that come under the data protection act ,ie it would be illegal to record a car reg no and then make that footage available to any other individual
