Question about show jumping restrictions

I think the answer to this might be different for different riding clubs, but just wondering what the general rule is..

My local riding club have restrictions on the lower classes, e.g. combination not to have won 3x1st place rosettes. Today my mare and I won the 2ft and 2ft 3 classes (:D), which, in addition to winning classes previously at the same show, means we now can't compete in the 2ft or 2ft 3 classes.

Do these restrictions generally only apply per season or is it usually the case that once you've won X amount, you can't ever do the smaller classes again?

I guess what we should be doing is moving up to the next height up, but due to an old injury, I don't really want to take her any higher for fear of causing her problems again. I guess we'll have to find somewhere else to compete at the lower heights and keep her going that way...

Poor old girl; she still thinks she can jump 3ft 6 I think!
 
This rule is usually in reference to the same combination of horse and rider, in any previous season. As riding club shows tend to be "points shows", if you qualify for a particular class at the beginning of the season you continue to be eligible for the rest of the season, otherwise the only competitors to accumulate points would be those who didn't win, which wouldn't make sense. You might be best contacting the secretary and asking them for clarification for your particular riding club.
 
Oh, and well done by the way!!!

If you aren't bothered about points, maybe enter the classes at the heights you want HC (non competitively) next season, however you'll probably have to forfeit any rosettes in that case too!
 
Thank you, I'll double check but think you'll be right. I might have a go at working hunter next year and see if she enjoys that.

Thanks for the well done! The old girl seemed to know she'd done well; couldn't stop after lap of honour :s
