So I'm thinking about trying to do a crash course in trailer towing...as I passed my driving test after January 1997 I have to do this in order to drive a 4x4 and tow a horse trailer...only missed out by about six months...gutted!!

Anyhoo...can people please share their experiences?!?

Thankies muchly!

Oooo Thanks BG...now £400 is do-able...was told by one of my friends who done a week crash course it cost her about £800!! Shocking!
I'm a pretty confident driver and have done some towing in the past so not a complete numpty novice! lol!

I had a 2 hour lesson a week before & 1 hour before the test. Had a trailer so practiced by setting up cones at home. You can get someone who has a pre-1997 licence to sit with you while you tow with L plates btw. Should be able to pass for a few hundred quid.

blondegirl - which company was that with if you don't mind me asking? I'm having to do a trailer test too, eek. Is it worrying to tow with the horses in. I'd be horrified if anything happened to them whilst I was driving

Hi Beanyowner,
I had a 2 hour lesson with Tracey at PassTime (Worcs based), practised for about 2 weeks with Dad in passenger side then had another lesson and then took the test which I passed. You just need to practise because its basically a series of routines that you wouldnt do unless you have been told by your instructor i.e. being seen checking that the car no. plate matches the trailer one and telling the examiner that you have checked this!! As as for towing I love it. There is something very staisfying about packing up the nag and trailer and going off alone, feel very grown up! Good Luck!

i'm doing a day's course for £250 then my test a week later, so if the day isn't quite enough got time to book an extra lesson or two in the gap. i've got the trailer and been out a few times with L plates on. I'm fine reversing it so just need to learn how to pass the test now!
