Oh no! That's really tempting fate.

Sadly unless you are a member of a German studbook -- or a representative of a daughter studbook of a German studbook that is approved by the German FN -- these are not available on line.

The only way to get hold of them is to buy the printed version of the Jarbuch Zucht which is published annually (and in CD Rom form as well) by the FN Verlag. It costs 89 euros plus p+p and runs to three volumes in hard copy version. Go to http://www.fnverlag.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p176_Jahrbuch-Zucht-2007.html for the printed version but it looks like the CD ROM has sold out or cannot be ordered on line any more.

OTOH, a much quicker (and much cheaper :-)) alternative is to call John Shenfield of BHHS who as the rep of a daughter society will be able to let you have the latest data direct from the FN even if they are not Hann graded. PM me if you do not have his tel no.

Thanks Ciss. I am a member of the Hanoverian Verband in Germany, so would I not be able to get it from them?

The Breeding values for the stallions graded with the Hann Verband should be in the yellow stallion book the Verband publishes each year (along with a very good break down of progeny performance etc) but I think you have to buy it from the Verband as I don't think it is an automatic perk of membership :-(. For others the FN route is really the only way of you don't want to ask either JS or Ludwig to find out for you.

You could look on the web sites for the stallions concerned of course, or check what the English version of the German Stallion book has to say, but you do need to bear in mind that these sources are paid for by the stallion owners (rather than being complied by an independent source such as the FN or the relevant Verband) so they will usually only quote the highest breeding value a stallion has achieved (even if it was gained several years ago) rather than the current one ,which is what really matters for breeding decisions being made now.
